There is something that is astoundingly obvious and yet very few people consciously think about: Careers are finite
If you are not getting what you want out of your current situation, do not waste another year, another month, hoping it will change. Intentionally or not, companies and leaders frequently hint at opportunities for growth and development. In my experience (I have facilitated hundreds of talent discussions), only one-third of those developmental opportunities actually come to fruition.
I am not advocating for cutting and running the moment a role or a company isn't fulfilling your every wish. I am advocating that you know your value, your strengths and your priorities. Once you have a good grasp on that, you can decide how long and for what you are willing to wait (or not). Remember, by staying with a leader, with a role, with a company you are essentially saying "I am increasing my market value here more effectively than I could anywhere else."
I recognize this is pretty bold for a lot of people. It is still true. If you want to have a better grasp on your strengths and ultimately your market value, check out the links below.
